Intake Process for Yoga Therapy and Menopause Coaching

1. Intake

We’ll begin our journey with a thorough and comprehensive intake session. During this time, I’ll ask you a range of thoughtful questions about your physical health, mental well-being, and daily lifestyle to gain a complete understanding of your unique needs and experiences. This in-depth conversation is essential as it helps me create a personalized plan that is specifically tailored to your body, mind, and individual life circumstances. By exploring both your challenges and aspirations, we can collaboratively develop a practice that nurtures and supports you holistically, ensuring you feel safe and entirely supported as we move forward together on this transformative path.

2. Body Check

We’ll focus on a physical and breath assessment to get a clearer picture of your current state. I’ll evaluate your posture, as well as your joint range of motion, and identify any specific areas of pain or discomfort you may be experiencing. In addition to this, we’ll assess your breathing functionality to thoroughly understand how it supports or potentially hinders your overall well-being and daily activities. This thorough and detailed evaluation allows me to tailor the practices specifically to your body and minds unique needs, ensuring that each movement and breath feels safe and effectively supports your healing journey and personal growth.

3. Offer Suggestions

The subsequent sessions (if you decide), will be embarked on together. This will form the essential core of our collaborative work, thoughtfully designed based on the valuable insights gathered from your intake, physical and breath assessment, and your personal preferences and wishes. While we’ll certainly have a general plan in place to guide us, each individual session will be carefully adapted to meet your unique needs on the day of your appointment. This kind of flexibility is vital, as it ensures that your practice remains perfectly aligned with how you’re feeling—physically, mentally, and emotionally—so that each session provides you with the appropriate level of support and helps you make meaningful progress on your wellness journey.

Session Breakdown

Check-in

We’ll begin our time together by discussing how you’re feeling in the moment, sharing thoughtful feedback on previous sessions, and taking a moment to reflect on any insights or progress you’ve made in your daily life. This cozy atmosphere allows us to connect more deeply and ensures that you feel heard and supported.

Practice

The session includes a thoughtfully curated combination of various postures for balance and strength, gentle somatic movements, effective releasing practices, and calming breathing techniques, all specifically tailored to meet your current needs and preferences. We’ll conclude the practice with a soothing guided meditation while in a restorative pose, designed to help you fully relax and beautifully integrate the entire experience for a sense of peace and well-being.

Check-out

Check-out: After our practice session comes to a close, we’ll take a few moments to gather together and share any sensations, insights, or delightful “aha” moments that may have surfaced during our time. I’ll also provide you with some meaningful "homework" to help you continue your progress and maintain that wonderful connection between our sessions. This is a great opportunity to reflect and deepen your practice!

Follow-up

After each session, you can expect to receive a helpful email that includes a summary of everything we covered together. Along with this recap, you may also find a detailed description of your homework assignments. This may include various supportive materials designed to aid your journey, such as informative PDF guides that illustrate the practices we'll be working on. Insurance Coverage: Many wonder if yoga therapy or menopause coaching is part of extended health benefits. Most plans don't cover it directly, but there might be options for reimbursement:

  • Health Care Spending Accounts (HCSA): Many people can use HCSAs from their employer's benefits plan. You might be able to claim yoga therapy or menopause coaching sessions through your HCSA. It's best to check with your company or insurance provider to see if this is possible.

  • Special Circumstances: You might get your yoga therapy covered if you're dealing with WSIB or a medical reviewer, they may approve it as part of your claim. To learn more, reach out to your caseworker.

Sliding Scale Options:

I understand that financial constraints may be a barrier to accessing our services. If the cost of sessions is prohibitive for you, please don't hesitate to reach out. I have a limited number of appointments available on a sliding scale basis. I would be more than happy to discuss these options with you and work towards finding a solution that meets your needs.

Each session lasts 90 minutes and has a flexible structure.

Each person experiences chronic pain in their own unique way, meaning that a solution effective for one individual may not be suitable for another. It's crucial to recognize that pain management does not have a universal answer.

Stay open-minded and explore various treatments and therapies until you discover what suits you best. Your pain management team can assist you in identifying the ideal blend of treatments tailored to your specific requirements.

Risks and Potential Side Effects:
